Fond Hearts and Soft Smiles

Quality & Camaraderie

Paula Jakeman joined M.O.W.s seventeen years ago. Before that, she worked as a nurse for Evergreen Campus of Care which is also our food provider. On her retirement from nursing care, she joined us as a day captain and was responsible for Fridays team of volunteers. This meant sorting the routes for our drivers (and making sure there was a driver for every route) making notes that would help them on their deliveries such as which door to use or to leave the meal as the client had a doctors appointment, keeping the records straight and doing the banking at the end of service. Administration at its finest.

Over those seventeen years, we've seen many changes with people coming and going on both sides of the meal-box. Many giggles and sorrows. The one consistency has been the quality and camaraderie of the day's teams.

Paula did us proud. Candies and comfort and dressing for every occasion (hearts for Valentines, orange and black for Hallowe'en, green and red for Christmas) she kept the spirit of every season alive and vibrant. That's what pulls a team together and that's what she did.

We all hope her retirement will be a happy one and make no mistake, she will be missed and always remembered with fond hearts and soft smiles.
