What We Do
White Rock/South Surrey Meals on Wheels is a volunteer driven organization that delivers hot, midday meals to clients who need help with nutrition, short or long term.
We serve the Semiahmoo Peninsula area south of 40th Avenue and West of 188th Street- White Rock, South Surrey, Ocean Park and Crescent Beach.
Our team of volunteer drivers deliver meals on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, between 11:00am and 12:30pm. We deliver on all public holidays.
The price is $7.75. Payments may be made on delivery, or prepaid by cheque, weekly or monthly. Drivers do not carry change, so the correct amount is appreciated if paying by cash.
Each meal consists of juice, soup, dessert and a main dish of meat, fish or poultry, along with vegetables. All items are in disposable containers. The meals are prepared at a seniors care home under the supervision of a certified dietician, and are low fat, low sodium.
Meals are prepared using a rotation menu, and we are unable to provide individual choices due to the large number of deliveries. However, some special diets are available for clients with medical dietary problems.
Meals are transported inside an insulated container and may be eaten on arrival. If the main course is to be eaten in the evening, it can be reheated in a microwave. If you are not eating the meal immediately, it must be refrigerated, as it is free of preservatives.
Meals on Wheels is financed in part by the clients payments for meals, which are subsidized by annual grants from the Fraser Health Authority, as well as through donations and fundraising by individuals, and community organizations.
